How much does musician insurance cost?

The short answer

There is no flat price for musician or music business insurance. SongSure builds the quote around your gear, shows, and the coverage you pick. We won't guess at a number here. Request a quote and you'll get a real one.

No guesses. A real quote, built for you.

What actually moves the price

Every quote is built from a few things: what you own, where you play, what you need covered and how much protection you want. Here's how each one works.

Gear and instrument value

The more your instruments, amps and production gear are worth, the more it costs to replace them, and the more it costs to cover them. Where gear is kept and how often it travels matter too. See music equipment insurance.

Touring scale and frequency

More dates, more travel and more money at risk mean more exposure. Single gigs and full tours are quoted differently. See tour cancellation insurance.

Venue or festival requirements

Venues, promoters and festivals often set the liability limits you need to play. Higher required limits raise the price. See venue and festival insurance.

Studio exposure and client work

Running a studio, producing for clients or releasing other artists' music adds claims over the music itself. See music producer insurance and record label insurance.

Limits you choose

Your limit is the most your policy pays for a covered claim. Higher limits cost more. Some contracts set a minimum.

Claims history

Past claims tell underwriters how risky your work is. A clean history helps your price.

What the quote form asks for, and why

SongSure's quote form is short on purpose. Here's what it asks and why:

  • Name and email. So a real person can get back to you with your quote.
  • State. So your policy is written for where you're based.
  • I am a. Musician, producer, record label, publisher, manager, recording studio, venue owner, or a mix. Each one carries different risks.
  • What do you want covered? Music, masters, gear, studio, tour, Fight Back or other. This sets which coverage goes into your quote.
  • Anything else we should know? Gear values, tour dates, venue requirements or past claims. The more you share, the more accurate your quote.

FAQ

Why don't you list prices?

Because a number that isn't built on your gear, shows and coverage would be a guess. A real quote is free to request.

What makes musician insurance cost more?

Higher gear values, more touring, higher limits, client work and past claims.

Can I lower my price?

Choose the coverage you actually need, set limits that match your contracts, and keep a clean claims history.

Does Fight Back change the price?

Adding Fight Back adds coverage, so it's part of your quote. Check Fight back on the form to include it.
